Does Your Yard Need a Clean Up?
Quite often our lawn mowing teams come across yards that are simply not function and need a complete clean up and make over. Pascoe Lawn and garden have the right skills, tools and patients to clean up even the most stubborn of yards. We literally have removed everything include a kitchen sink before.
There are a whole host of reasons why people’s yards can be overgrown, messy and needing attention. We have had clients that have had hip replacements, hence reduced mobility and other clients experiencing Agoraphobia (the fear of going outside). At Pascoe Vale Lawn and Garden, we are not here to pass judgement, but to help people clean up their yard and enjoy their home more. A typical yard clean-up consists of large overgrown and out of control, weeds, hedges, vines, grass and trees. Obviously, we would trim it all back to a manageable level, but before we do that, it’s important to complete a visual inspection.
Undertaking an inspection is a mandatory safety procedure our team complete. Experience has taught us there is always something hidden amongst the overgrown grass and foliage. During inspections we have found large wooden pallets, chunks of old concrete, lengths of timber, metal spike, hidden tree stumps, playground equipment, wire, bricks, glass bottles, weapons, bags of rubbish, chairs, the list goes on. It’s quite remarkable what we find under overgrown yards, hence why it’s so important for us to undertake the safety inspection.

Yard Safety Inspection?
After the safety inspection, the first steps to a proper and thorough yard clean-up is to remove all the loose debris. For example: loose lengths of timbers, old tyres, twine, and any other items that are likely to cause a problem with the whipper snipper or slasher.
Identify any stumps or fixed objects in the yard and mark where they are. Collect and remove any rubbish items and once you have completed that task you are all set to begin the yard clean up.
We begin with a large, long shaft whipper snipper and cut back the fixed objects that we marked during the safety inspection. Then we move onto the fence lines, garden beds and exterior dwellings such as garden sheds, trimming back the boarders to a manageable level.
Typically, once we begin cutting back the boarders, we will find more hidden items which may require to be moved manually. Remember, we are preparing the yard so we can run the lawn mower over it and mulch as much debris as we can.

Watch Out For Snakes.
Tip: When undertaking an overgrown yard clean-up, be sure to wear long robust pants, decent safety shoes, gloves and even gaiters. Particularly during the warmer months because it’s not uncommon for our Pascoe Vale Gardening Service team to come across some of Australia’s finest reptile snakes.
Depending on what type of equipment you’re using will depend on how you will manage the waste. We typically have a utility and collect the waste in environmentally friendly bags as we go. What doesn’t fit in the bags we will throw in the back of the Ute and secure it all down accordingly.
Once the task is complete, we take away the green waste and rubbish removal, disposing of it at a local eco-friendly transfer and recycle station. So, if you’re in need of a yard clean up, call Pascoe Lawn and Garden for all your yard clean up needs and we will be more than happy to transform your yard.
